​Melanated Growers is closing the gap on food equity in Jacksonville, Florida by planting community and school gardens and teaching people how to care for the gardens, giving them advocacy over their food sources. Since 2023, Melanated Growers has planted 5 brand new Community Gardens, built garden beds for 7 gardens, restored 4 abandoned gardens, and hosted dozens of planting events to educate the community on growing food. The Melanated Grower's Conference is held annually in the month of September to bring growers, learners, and community members together for a weekend of learning, fun, growing, and celebrating.
